BMW 7 Series Facelift
BMW's luxury limousine has been updated with fully digital instruments, new interior materials and a wider range of engines to better combat the Mercedes-Benz S-Class. As well as six-cylinder petrol and diesel engines, there's also a new plug-in hybrid version that emits as little as 48g/km of CO2. The facelifted 7 Series is set to cost from around £65,000 when sales begin next month.
Kia Imagine
Having shown it can mix with the best in the executive saloon world with its Stinger (at least in range-topping GT form), Kia is now turning its attention to a more luxurious all-electric model. The Imagine concept previews that car, and is tentatively scheduled to go on sale in 2021. It sits on new underpinnings shared with Hyundai, and perhaps most radically will offer a range of up to 500 miles by the time it goes on sale (it covers 282 miles on the WLTP test cycle now). Inside, and intended as a "humorous riposte" to the current trend of fitting more screens into cars, the Imagine has 21 individual high-resolution screens which form the car's instrument panel and infotainment system.
Mercedes-Benz CLA Shooting Brake
Earlier this year, Mercedes-Benz showed off its new CLA, which acts as a stylish alternative to both the regular A-Class family hatchback and the A-Class Saloon. And from September will be a new CLA Shooting Brake estate, offering buyers a more practical choice. Boot space has increased by 10 litres over the old car, to a total of 505 litres. So far, Mercedes has only confirmed that the 219bhp CLA 250 2.0-litre petrol model will be available at launch, but other engines are likely to be borrowed from the existing A-Class range.
