Porsche 718 Spyder RS Racing Yellow 2024

Porsche has elevated the 718 mid-engined model line with the introduction of a sports car designed for ultimate driving pleasure—the new 718 Spyder RS, serving as the convertible counterpart to the 718 Cayman GT4 RS.This model marks the first time the 368 kW (500 PS) naturally aspirated six-cylinder boxer engine from the 911 GT3 is featured in an open-topped mid-engined sports car. The lightweight and purist-oriented manual soft-top roof of the 718 Spyder RS enhances the evocative engine sound, complemented by the standard lightweight stainless steel sports exhaust system and distinctive process air inlets on the sides behind the headrests.

The powertrain of the Porsche 718 Spyder RS mirrors that of the 718 Cayman GT4 RS coupe, boasting a high-revving naturally aspirated engine with a 4.0-liter cylinder displacement. Generating 368 kW (500 PS) and 450 Newton meters of torque, the engine, coupled with a short-ratio seven-speed PDK transmission, propels the roadster from 0-100 km/h in 3.4 seconds. The Spyder RS is 40 kg lighter than the 718 Spyder with PDK, contributing to its enhanced performance. Aerodynamically, the front end resembles the 718 Cayman GT4 RS, with features like a CFRP front bonnet and NACA ducts.

Featuring a manually operated single-layer lightweight soft-top, the 718 Spyder RS comes with a compact design, including a sun sail and weather deflector. The chassis, utilizing components from the 718 Cayman GT4 RS and 718 Spyder, boasts Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM), Porsche Torque Vectoring (PTV), and 20-inch forged aluminum wheels. The interior is focused on performance, with a minimalistic design, RS sports steering wheel, and lightweight CFRP full bucket seats.

Optional features include the Weissach Package with forged magnesium wheels and a Porsche Design Timepieces handcrafted chronograph designed to match the car's configuration. Andreas Preuninger, Head of GT Cars, states, "The 718 Spyder RS raises driving pleasure to a new level for open-top cars."

Starting at €155,575, the Porsche 718 Spyder RS will debut at the 2023 festivities marking 75 years of Porsche Sports Cars in Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen, followed by an appearance at the 2023 Goodwood Festival of Speed in England.
