Audi Unveils the All-New A6 and S6 Sportback e-tron for the U.S. Market
Audi of America has officially announced U.S. specifications and technical details for the all-new Audi A6 Sportback e-tron and S6 Sportback e-tron. These next-generation electric sedans represent Audi’s most aerodynamic and longest-range battery-electric vehicles to date, combining striking design, advanced digital technology, and impressive real-world efficiency.
The A6 e-tron model line delivers a refined balance of elegance and functionality through its sleek Sportback silhouette, while the latest Audi MMI® system offers crisp graphics, fast processing speeds, and intuitive access to digital features via the Audi digital stage.
Class-Leading Aerodynamics and Electric Range
Closely mirroring the concept first revealed in 2021, the production A6 Sportback e-tron builds upon the efficiency breakthroughs of Audi’s Premium Platform Electric (PPE), first introduced with the Q6 e-tron SUV in late 2024. With an exceptionally low drag coefficient of just 0.23 Cd, the rear-wheel-drive Audi A6 Sportback e-tron achieves an EPA-estimated range of up to 392 miles on a single charge when equipped with the available ultra® package.
This makes the A6 Sportback e-tron the most aerodynamic production Audi ever built and a standout among electric luxury sedans.
Fast Charging and Advanced Battery Technology
Efficiency goes beyond range alone. The PPE architecture enables the A6 Sportback e-tron to maintain high charging power throughout the charging curve when properly preconditioned. Audi’s first low-floor PPE model features a 94.4 kWh net battery that supports DC fast charging speeds of up to 270 kW.
Thanks to advanced thermal management, the battery can recharge from 10 to 80 percent in as little as 21 minutes at a compatible DC fast-charging station, minimizing downtime and enhancing long-distance usability.
Sportback Design with Exceptional Versatility
For North America, the A6 Sportback e-tron family is offered exclusively in a Sportback body style. Its sweeping roofline is not only visually striking but also highly functional. The 40:20:40 split second row folds completely flat, enabling up to 39.9 cubic feet of cargo space. The liftgate design allows for a load floor up to 6 feet 2 inches deep, making the A6 e-tron equally suited for passengers, luggage, and everyday practicality.
A High-Tech Interior Built Around the Driver
Inside, the cabin is centered around Audi’s wrap-around digital stage. The standard setup includes an 11.9-inch Audi virtual cockpit and a 14.5-inch central MMI touchscreen, both using OLED technology for deep blacks and sharp contrast. An optional 10.9-inch passenger display seamlessly integrates into the dashboard and features Active Privacy Mode, allowing front passengers to enjoy media content without distracting the driver.
Audi also offers available headrest-integrated speakers, enabling personalized audio, discreet navigation prompts, and clear phone calls. Every A6 and S6 Sportback e-tron comes standard with a panoramic glass sunroof featuring switchable transparency.
Model Lineup and Availability
The A6 Sportback e-tron family consists of three distinct models:
The rear-wheel-drive Audi A6 Sportback e-tron
The dual-motor Audi A6 Sportback e-tron quattro
The high-performance Audi S6 Sportback e-tron
All models will be available in Premium, Premium Plus, and Prestige trim levels. The A6 e-tron lineup is scheduled to arrive at U.S. dealerships in summer 2025.
A Key Part of Audi’s Electric Future
The A6 e-tron family plays a central role in Audi’s broader electrification strategy. Over the next two years, Audi plans to introduce more than 20 new or significantly redesigned vehicles, evenly split between electric and combustion models. This initiative represents the largest product expansion in the brand’s history and is designed to make the transition to electric mobility as seamless as possible for customers.
Dynamic Exterior Design with Audi DNA
The exterior design of the Audi A6 Sportback e-tron emphasizes clean surfaces, progressive elegance, and athletic proportions. Slim daytime running lights and a wide Singleframe grille give the front end a low, confident stance. A distinctive black mask integrates headlights, sensors, and air intakes into a cohesive e-tron design language.
From the side, sculpted quattro blisters highlight Audi’s performance heritage, while black sill inserts visually emphasize the battery and enhance the car’s sleek profile. At the rear, a continuous three-dimensional light strip, bold diffuser, and available spoiler lip on the S6 model create a powerful and modern presence.
Innovative Lighting Technology
Audi continues to lead in lighting innovation with available digital light signatures and second-generation digital OLED taillights. Prestige models offer up to eight customizable light signatures, allowing drivers to personalize both front and rear lighting designs. A standout feature is the illuminated four-ring Audi logo at the rear, giving the A6 Sportback e-tron a unique and instantly recognizable identity.
Impressive Performance, Range, and Driving Dynamics
The Audi A6 Sportback e-tron quattro delivers up to 456 horsepower with launch control, accelerating from 0 to 60 mph in just 4.3 seconds. The high-performance S6 Sportback e-tron raises output to 543 horsepower, reaching 60 mph in only 3.7 seconds and achieving a top speed of 149 mph.
An advanced regenerative braking system handles up to 95 percent of everyday braking scenarios, improving efficiency and extending range. Drivers can adjust recuperation levels via steering-wheel paddles or engage single-pedal driving using “B” mode.
Optional adaptive air suspension further enhances comfort and agility, automatically adjusting ride height to improve aerodynamics and driving efficiency at higher speeds.
Advanced Driver Assistance and Safety Systems
At launch, the Audi A6 Sportback e-tron includes a comprehensive suite of standard driver assistance technologies designed to enhance safety and everyday convenience. These systems support the driver with features such as adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, cross-traffic assistance, side assist, emergency braking support, and distraction monitoring.
