Nissan Z NISMO (2027)

The legendary Nissan Z returns for 2027 with a major evolution, led by the debut of a six-speed manual transmission for the 420-horsepower, track-focused Z NISMO.Paired with GT-R-inspired brakes, updated styling, and a new Shinkai Green Pearl Metallic paint option for Z Sport and Performance trims, the latest Z delivers an even more engaging driving experience for enthusiasts.

“We’ve listened closely to Nissan Z owners and fans, and the result is the most driver-focused version of the seventh-generation Z yet,” said Marco Fioravanti, vice president of product planning for Nissan U.S. and Canada. “The new six-speed manual transmission in the Z NISMO was engineered to maximize driver engagement, while targeted chassis and braking upgrades improve consistency and capability on the track.”

Z NISMO Gains a Six-Speed Manual

For 2027, the Nissan Z NISMO introduces an available six-speed manual transmission to complement its NISMO-tuned engine, suspension, brakes, and aerodynamic package. Designed specifically for the NISMO model, the transmission features an upgraded clutch and revised shift lever ratio, delivering shorter, more precise gear throws and a more connected feel behind the wheel.

The twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 also receives manual-specific tuning, including revised throttle and ignition timing calibration for sharper throttle response and stronger, more sustained torque delivery. The result is a more immediate and exhilarating acceleration experience.

To enhance driver immersion, the Active Sound Enhancement and Active Noise Cancellation systems have been recalibrated for manual-equipped models, amplifying intake and exhaust sounds in Sport mode for a more dramatic soundtrack.

Enhanced NISMO Dynamics

The 2027 Z NISMO also benefits from several performance-focused refinements aimed at improving both capability and consistency on the track.

Its front braking system now features two-piece iron-aluminum rotors derived from the iconic Nissan GT-R. Improved cooling channels help significantly reduce brake temperatures during aggressive driving, while the lightweight construction cuts a total of 19 pounds from the front end.

To complement the reduced weight, Nissan retuned the suspension for improved balance and responsiveness. Engineers also revised the steering rack, reducing internal friction by 20% to provide smoother cornering feel and more precise steering inputs.

Fresh Styling for Z Sport and Performance

The Z Sport and Z Performance receive updated front-end styling for 2027, drawing inspiration from classic Nissan sports cars. A body-color bar now spans the grille opening, while a new “Z” emblem replaces the traditional Nissan badge on the nose.

The redesigned bumper, grille, and airflow channels not only modernize the appearance but also improve cooling efficiency while reducing aerodynamic lift and drag.

Z Performance models gain newly designed forged 19-inch wheels featuring black spokes and machined-finish rims. Buyers can also choose a new tan interior option that extends across the seats, lower door panels, center console, and dashboard.

New Technology and Color Options

A redesigned wireless charging system is now available on Z Performance and Z NISMO models. The Qi2-compatible charger delivers faster and more stable charging with up to 15 watts of output, while integrated cooling and magnetic alignment help keep devices properly positioned and temperature-controlled.

The lineup also introduces a bold new exterior color: Shinkai Green Pearl Metallic. Exclusively paired with a Super Black roof, the paint draws inspiration from the green finish used on the classic S30-generation Nissan Z, reimagined with a modern pearl effect that creates dramatic reflections and depth in sunlight.

Further Handling Improvements

Nissan engineers also refined the suspension tuning for Z Performance models by adding larger-diameter monotube shock absorbers. The updated dampers improve vibration absorption, delivering a smoother ride and more predictable handling characteristics.

Every 2027 Nissan Z model now features a redesigned fuel tank that helps maintain fuel flow during high-G cornering, ensuring more consistent engine performance during demanding track sessions.

The 2027 Nissan Z lineup, including the manual-equipped Z NISMO, is expected to arrive at Nissan dealerships across the U.S. in summer 2026.
